Micro donations

If you’ve looked at our Doing the sums section you’ll notice that each track you download contributes a minimum of 3p to your chosen charity. That may not seem much, but in the charity world, these are an important form of donation known as ‘micro donations’. The point about micro donations is that although they represent a small amount, when they’re added together at big volumes (like they are at fairsharemusic), they make a HUGE difference.

Embedded generosity

Here at fairsharemusic we also incorporate a charity phenomenon known as ‘embedded generosity’, where donating to charity becomes part of the simple, everyday things you do. Charity credit cards, for example, operate on the same principle. fairsharemusic compares favourably with other forms of embedded generosity. Here's an example:

• The average charity credit card gives between 25p and 50p for every £100 spent and around £2 for every year you use the card.
• At fairsharemusic the charity gets a minimum of £4 for every £100 spent.
